Christian Muthspiel has designed four evenings around themes of Mozart, called the Mozart Loops.

In these programs, masterpieces of the 20th century for orchestra meet Improvisations of Wolfgang Muthspiel over major Jazz or Pop songs. The 90 minute long concerts are less crossover projects than an expression of music making beyond stylistic borders.

One discovers unknown relationships. Who would have known that Riehm and Monk have a lot in common. Yet, after the Improvisation of Monk's Round Midnight, a piece like Riehm’s “Nachtordnung” seems perfectly placed. Small fragments of iconic Mozart pieces are looped, tying the musical fabric of the evening together.
