The roots of our musical language were formed by our family. They were developed in our early years, when singing and making music together was an important part of daily life.
early music means two things to us: the musical experiences of our youth, and the early choir music which was our father's passion. Most of the music on this CD refers to either Renaissance music or Austrian folk songs, which our father once conducted and sang with his choir. For us, his children, this music has become a kind of genetic code to our musical makeups. The sound samples, called "triggers" which we have placed before most of our own compositions on this disc, are in many ways the soundtrack of our childhood. They evoke a multitude of associations and memories in us. early music circles around them.

MUTHSPIEL & MUTHSPIEL

The fall of 2003 will mark the twentieth year since the two brothers Wolfgang and Christian Muthspiel gave their first concert as a duo. Twenty important years in their respective careers, during which these performances played an essential role in their lives as the common denominator of their artistic journey.

The music of the duo Muthspiel & Muthspiel grows out of complete mutual confidence, on the human level as well as on the musical level. The big number of concert-programs they have developed together consists mainly of original compositions. Against this backdrop, they were able to mature, creating an authentic and original universe of sound.
To celebrate this common journey, Wolfgang and Christian Muthspiel are releasing EARLY MUSIC.
