    European Jazzprize
A Jury from 21 European countries has decided to award Wolfgang Muthspiel the "European Jazzprize 2003".
Statement of the Jury
The reasons for Wolfgang Muthspiel's nomination for the European Jazz Prize are many-sided, but two seem to be the essence of Wolfgang's musicianship:
quality and continuity!
Quality and continuity in the ways his career proceeded and still develops, no matter what musical
settings he chooses for his expressions - the trio with jazz stars Marc Johnson and Brian Blade, the duo with singer Rebekka Bakken or the longstanding collaboration with his brother Christian his musical standards in improvisation and composition are since many years on the highest level.
Touring Europe successfully with the above mentioned (or other) projects throughout the last twelve month, made Wolfgang by far the most visible Austrian jazz musician in Europe and helped to increase his reputation as one of the most exciting and uncompromising guitarists around today.
As an artist, who not only in geographical, but as well in musical terms is without borders, he is the perfect winner of the European Jazz Prize.
